Does the Japanese public support Whaling?

When we think of the Japanese economy these days, whaling hardly ever comes to mind. But commercial whaling still goes on under the name of ‘research.’

Each winter the battle wages on: Western-based anti-whaling forces versus the quasi-legal commercial whalers of Japan. Here’s a Yahoo Japan poll showing 90% public support for whaling. However, the cabinet office is claiming that 75% of the public supports a return to commercial whaling and the Nihon Keizai Shimbun shows similar figures. These figures, of course, are reprinted from a press release attempting to show support for whaling in Japan by the Institute of Cetacean Research, which was picked up as news.

    URG,

If you’re going to write abusive comments, don’t do it from your employer’s computer system. It’s transparent. They will be notified of any future abuse.

    Also, learn how to spell.
