Oh, Right: The BOJ Policy Board is in Session

Despite the fact that more people are paying attention to the Bank of Japan’s Policy Board now than two years ago, it seems as though this month’s meeting has been lost in a sea of political scandals and pension fund mishaps. Not to mention, the BOJ wraps up its meetings on July 12, the same day that official campaigning begins for the Upper House election, to be held on July 29. With that in the cards, as well as Prime Minister Shinzo Abe going on the ropes this week with his comments concerning possible future hikes in the consumption tax (”We never said we wouldn’t discuss the issue”), a rate hike is looking like a distant possibility this month around. I have it at 5%, not sure what the Vegas odds are…

They have them, right?
