Sony passes 1 million mark for Play Station 3 units sold in Japan

That’s right - since the new gaming console’s release last November 11, Sony has at last reached the one million mark in Japan. Nintendo’s Wii is currently well ahead with 2.9 million sold, and Microsoft’s X-Box stays just ahead of the Atari 5200 with 420,705 units being purchased by gamers in Japan (my only theory as to how any X-Box units have moved in Japan at all is that they must have a really good ‘masochist’ role playing game that I can’t seem to find out anything about).
Although the real reasons behind Sony’s appallingly low sales are: 1) People are caught up in the Wii fad, 2) The PS3 is way too expensive, and 3) There has been a serious lag in development for games that just rock - the franchise games that Sony needs to get PS3 sales in gear, and which the Wii does not seem to be laying down a foundation by creating. Nonetheless, I’m tempted to blame this commercial, which ran in Japan:
At the end, the male voice says, “Play Station 3 goes on sale on November 11.”
I’m almost tempted to blame the commercial, but really: It’s the price.
