Steven Towns on Nomura’s August Individual Investor Survey
August 14, 2007
By Ken Worsley
Over at Seeking Alpha, Steven Towns has put together an excellent writeup on Nomura’s August Individual Investor Survey. Given the uncertainty of the domestic political scene in the leadup to last month’s Upper House election and worries over monetary policy, Nomura’s report shows a worsening sentiment amongst individual investors.
Most significant, however, might be section 8 of the report, which details how individual investors voted at shareholder meetings this spring compared to a year earlier. The report found that in 2006, 67.1% of voting shareholders supported all resolutions, while the figure dropped to 61.3% this year. Last year, 12.8% voted against retirement bonuses for directors, while this year the figure jumped to 16.6%.
