GEOS bankrupt

Those following the English language teaching industry in Japan won’t be surprised to learn that language school operator GEOS filed for bankruptcy today (The link is to a Yahoo News writeup. The Nikkei has a story in English as well, but they don’t want traffic coming from blogs).

As usual, more information and coverage can be found at Let’s Japan.

GEOS schools are horrible! One of the worst run companies around, so no surprise. The school managers are incompetent fools.

    Bye, bye, GEOS.

There were some pretty funny reactions around the media.

The Nikkei found a guy who was supposed to interview for a job there on the very day of the bankruptcy.

NHK interviewed students, which seemed to be exclusively composed of ossan with thick facial hair.

G Communication will probably quietly downsize Geos even further. I wonder if this will bring the eikaiwa supply more closely in line with demand?

Got something to say?
