Book Review - Landed: The Guide to Buying Property in Japan

Christopher Dillon, the author of Landed: The expatriate’s guide to buying and renovating property in Hong Kong, has now published a similar guide on buying property in Japan. Landed: The Guide to Buying Property in Japan is now available and will be supported by a series of public events next week (schedule at the end of this post).
I am going to keep my review of the book short. Essentially, if you are seriously considering making a property purchase in Japan, buy this book. If you would like to learn more about how the real estate industry works in Japan…consider buying this book. Although the listed price at Amazon.com of $94.45 might seem high, it is a small price to pay given the information and tips within when weighed against the cost of purchasing a property without such knowledge.
The book explains the buying process, choosing a location, mortgages, insurance, taxes, investment properties, foreclosures and other topics. The resources section at the back of the book is extensive and provides web site addresses to every imaginable resource one might want to explore when buying a property in Japan.
That said, Mr Dillion will be appearing at three events promoting the book next week. Here is a schedule:

Unfortunately I will be unable to attend due to a business trip next week, but I’m looking forward to hearing from anyone who attends one of the events.
