Description: This monthly report shows the nationwide consumer price index for the previous month, as well as a provisional consumer price index for the 23-ward-area of Tokyo in the current month. In Japan, core CPI excludes fresh food prices, but includes fuel and energy prices.

Most recent results: Published June 29, 2007. In May, the consumer price index for Japan was 100.4 (2005=100), up 0.3% from the previous month, and unchanged from May 2006. It was down for the fourth consecutive month.

The consumer price index for 23-ward-area of Tokyo in June 2007 was 100.1 (2005=100), down 0.3% from the previous month, and down 0.2% from May 2006.
