Description: This monthly report shows the number of employed and unemployed persons nationwide for the previous calendar month, as well as the current unemployment rate.

Most recent results: Published June 29, 2007. The unemployment rate, seasonally adjusted, was 3.8% in May 2007.

In May, the total number of people employed in Japan stood at 64.99 million, which was an increase of 510,000 (0.8%) from the previous year.

The number of unemployed persons was 2.58 million, a decrease of 190,000 (6.9%) from the previous year.
